Perry Rhodan is a German Sience Fiction series.
Since the first issue came out in 1961 more than 3,000 novellas and novels have been published.
FanPro will publish a six paperback mini-cycle set in the world of Perry Rhodan in the US starting with Perry Rhodan: Lemuria 1: Star Ark in july.

The story of Perry Rhodan is set in an alternative universe.
In issue one the first manned mission to the moon goes wrong, Perry Rhodan an his crew are stranded. They discover a marooned alien spacecraft and use it's technology to prevent a nuclear war on Earth and to unite mankind into a single nation:Terra.
On one of his first expeditions with a FTL ship Rhodan encounters the being "IT", a powerful immortal.
"IT" grants the Terrans 20000 year to prove themselves on the cosmic stage and bestows Rhodan and his friends with immortality.

Now a little bit info in the Lemuria mini-cycle which is set in the far future.
A strange ship is discovered traveling trough space at a high fraction of the speed of light. It was built by a human spacefaring civilization which existed long before history, as we know it. The discovery of the ship will lead Perry Rhodan deep into the past of the Milky Way and cause an ancient evil to rise again.
Hmm looks a little bit like a book blurb to me. ;)

The series is maybe not the most profound SF series out there, neverthanless I learned from it that you should never judge a being by his appearance, maybe the four armed giant which is grabbing you is a real nice guy and feels to urge to give a little cute human a hug. ;)
